Pour Nos Enfants
Bonjour! Je suis William Minchin et je suis bien content de me présenter comme conseiller public pour Edmonton pour les élections du Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord.
Je suis né à Edmonton. J’ai étudié le génie civil à l’université de l’Alberta. J’ai vécu, étudié, et travaillé au Canada, aux États-Unis et en France. Mon premier emploi après mon Bac était comme enseignant au lycée, à Dieppe, en France.
Maintenant, on vit tous près du quartier français d’Edmonton et j’ai trois enfants dans les écoles francophones: deux à Gabrielle-Roy et l’aînée à Michaëlle-Jean.
Il y a plein de travail à faire au sein du CSCN et encore plus maintenant à cause de la grève actuel des enseignants. Nous avons besoin de plus d’enseignants francophones et plus de bâtiments (des écoles) pour nos étudiants. Les étudiants francophones sont un peu partout et nous avons besoin d’écoles plus près de nos enfants. Même à Edmonton, ainsi qu’en provence. Aussi, nous perdons trop de nos élèves avancés parce qu’ils ne sont pas rassurés qu’ils recevront la meilleure éducation dans nos écoles secondaire.
Mais moi, je peux aider! Dernièrement, j’ai travaillé en faisant des démarches auprès du gouvernement pour les nouvelles constructions. Comme ça, j’ai appris à lire, apprendre, et appliquer les réglementations gouvernementales. Les démarches pour les nouveaux bâtiments (écoles) vont se dérouler pour la plupart de la même façon: il faut lire les règles provinciales sur les nouveaux bâtiments (pour les écoles), les comprendre, et préparer un dossier qui montre que, selon leurs règles, nous avons le droit à des nouvelles écoles. C’est exactement ce processus que je faisais ces dernieres années.
Le 20 octobre, votez pour moi, William Minchin, afin de fortifier les écoles francophones à Edmonton.
For Our Children
Hello! My name is William Minchin and am delighted to announce my candidacy for school councilor for the Greater North Central Francophone School Board (Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord (CSCN)).
By way of background, I was born in Edmonton. I studied Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. I’ve lived, studied, and worked in Canada, the United States, and in France. My first job out of university was as a teacher at a high school in Dieppe, France.
Today, we live next to the French quarter of Edmonton, and we’ve three students in local francophone schools: two at Gabrielle-Roy Elementary School and the oldest at Michaĕlle-Jean High School.
There is much work to do within the CSCN, and work doubled again by the ongoing teachers’ strike. We need more francophone (French-speaking) teachers and more buildings for our students. The francophone students within the district are spread out, and we need schools closer to our kids. Both within Edmonton, but also throughout the rest of the province. As well, we lose too many of the our advanced students because they don’t believe that they will receive the best education possible within our high schools.
Let me help! Recently, I worked on government applications related to new development. In this role, I had to read, understand, and apply government regulations. Applications for new school buildings roll out in much the same manner: one must read the province directives around new schools, understand them, and prepare a report showing that, according to the rules they have laid out, we are entitled to new (and additional) schools. It’s exactly this process I’ve been doing these last many years.
This coming October 20, vote for me, William Minchin, to strengthen our francophone schools in Edmonton!
Où (et Quand) Voter
L’élection se dérouleras lundi, le 20 octobre 2025, en même temps que les élections municipaux. Pour voter, vous pouvez se présenter à n’importe quelle école de Centre Nord (sauf École Jean-Claude-Mahé), même en dehors d’Edmonton. Les bureaux seront ouverts de 10 h à 20 h.
Voting — When and Where
The election will happen on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the same time as the municipal elections. To vote, you can go to any of Centre Nord’s schools (except École Jean-Claude-Mahé), including those outside of Edmonton. The voting stations will be open from 10am to 8pm.
